![]() ![]() Now this VOX sounds great ( but has reverb) and 15 watts/class A is LOUD- but man, it is too heavy for me ![]() We both play/jam with OD pedals on and off. ( now with a Neo speaker, and a few mods, done by great tech- it's my ' big gig' amp ( I play small venues) and I love it)Īnyway when a few of us go to my collector buddy's home to jam ( he plays bass) I ( lately) plug a '61 SG RI into a '68 Super Reverb ( what a combo!) and a buddy of mine plays his Strat into the Vox AC-15, and it sounds fantastic and powerful. (NOTE:I own a well maintained 1999 Blonde Blues Jr. ![]() now more of a collector) has a bunch of vintage ( or vintage style) Fender amps and a more modern Vox AC-15 with Reverb. Main influences: Oasis, foo f, guns n roses, pink floydĪ friend of mine ( used to be a player. Styles i play: Hard rock, blues, some country, british pop, punk I'm not i profesional musician, i do gig from time to time. Also more weight of courseįor a reference. So is there any good advice you guys can offer me? Are the 400$ more for an used amp worth it, just for that od. So i would have to take at least a reverb if i want to gig with it. But you definetly have to tweack the amp for each pedal you activate. And it's way more picky, it's not that it sounds bad. Quite diferent from the blues jr, i wouldn't say better. So i tried the amp, and DAAAAAMN the amps natural overdrive is great, the cleans are very harmonic to. And 15 watss also, but sounds fuller and louder. A bit more than the blues jr, but still nowhere near the jvm. I thought no way, the amp weights 48.9 lbs. ![]() Then a guy offers me a ac15 hw with the alnico blue. Went and tested the amp several times, takes the helix pedals great. Has a great clean, a good overdrive and nice reverb. Witch only weights 31 lbs, less than half than the jvm. Great amp but way to loud and way to heavy. Ok! so i've been a Marshall user for years. I use the helix live also, but i want the amp in the room thing for the house. I have a telecaster baja 50's, a Gibson les paul and a fender american strat with custom fat 50'sįor pedals i use the line 6 helix. The WOW that is a blast to play and does so much all in one side of me says the Vox.Hi guys! i know these thread is sort of repetitive. Seems more “professional” in the quality department? Seems to be built a bit better, less to go wrong. I know this amp has more headroom which is good for pedals and playing out. It’s even more compact (to a detriment though? Is it boxy?) has more power, is it louder? I know it has no master volume which is good and bad. I do have a good amount of pedals though and I am also very intrigued by the Fender. I can already say I LOVE the Vox and I know it’ll do the job. This combo is gonna be used for more Neil Young, Tom Petty, Who, oldies, classics, rockabilly, rock, all that. I have ALL the rig I need for this side in a great Phaez half stack. Their are two sides of my playing now really, loud and heavy, riff and lead stuff. I’m going to be using this small combo as a portable upstairs/downstairs amp, out of the house jamming and studio stuff too. I’ve worked myself from finding a used Pathfinder up to something a litttttle more robust, of course ugh hahaha. Absolutely nothing wrong with it though and I could see the attraction. The only Pro Jr I’ve heard was silly loud for a little amp and really didn’t make me want to ever own one (just like many people would never want to own a 5150 which I personally love). I like my AC15HW1X much more but it was twice the money (which still is a stone cold bargain). Absolutely fine for loud home usage and very pretty. Mine produced very nice clean tones but naturally it wasn’t super loud. It was very cheap, build wasn’t wonderful but it worked perfectly in the time I owned mine. It was a rockin little amp but if you pushed too hard, you heard the FET stage stamp itself on the tone. I didn’t have any problems with mine but only kept it a year. If you read on here, you‘ll find limited mention of problems but there was early issues from what I did read (I did a fair bit of research before I bought one). One amp can get drive at reasonable volumes.the other. ![]()
